Over the many years that have now passed since 2009's original release of When the World Ends (on the IDMf Netlabel album, 'Mind Tree') - people have always really gravitated towards the track in ways I've never been able to fully comprehend.
Revisiting it, for that and many other reasons, was something I figured was an inevitability, but all previous attempts had fell short of the mark I wanted to hit.
This reprised version may not encompass the core ethos of what you specifically loved about the original - there's less rhythmic, driving momentum, and no scratchy, skittering percussion - only piano accompanied by dual violins.
That said, I do feel it taps even further into the emotional heartbeat of what the original evokes, and working on it has helped me through something I previously thought was unimaginable. I hope you enjoy it.
Eclectic & evocative of a golden era of gaming music. I would rank this in the same tier as the best musical offerings of the 16-bit consoles. Yasunori Mitsuda, Nobuo Uematsu, & Koji Kondo in spirit. Atra Aeterna
I chanced upon a Konig show two years ago and loved what I heard, so I was thrilled to hear Nadia had founded a project with Benjamin Nelson. Some fellow Kingstonians I'm proud to share a city with. Atra Aeterna
